The First Post - And another loss

Hi there, and welcome to my first ever blog.

My name shall remain Capy (Well atleast untill I feel I am a good enough poker player to tell people who I am)

This is going to be my blog on my Life as an Amateur Poker Player /Star.

I have played poker for about 6 months online and offline and now after some great wins and some horrible losses have decided to let the world know of my brilliance/stupidity and darn right naivety about my life as a amateur poker player. Now this blog is not going to be about big money and unless I hit a bank roll will be about my 4 or 5 games a week playing for buyins no more than £50.00.I am hopefully designing this blog to allow people to reflect in my blogs - give advice - take advice or just have a laugh at how stupid I am regarding the game of poker. (Any help is duly accepted.)

So hear is my first dilemma.Tonight I played in a home game - which is a £10.00 unlimited Re-Buy for the first hour and a half. Blinds Raise every half hour. I am not going to lie to you. I am going through the most horrible form ever. Last month I cleared £545 profit. With 2 big house wins and a 3rd and 4th at casino events. But ever since the 31st of June I could not hit top pair of my life depended on it.

So I sat down tonight hoping for the best.Having bought in 3 times buy half 9 my form wasn't looking like returning. I received KK in the big blind earlier in the game. And having been short stacked with 1600 chips it was raised to a thousand. I decided now was the time and pushed all in. It was called and A2 suited was dully turned over. It flew all the way to the River were the Ace decided to rear its ugly head. Now is this a bad beat or just bad luck??? Or is a bad beat and bad luck the same thing? Maybe their brothers?? Just like sleep is the cousin of death. Bad beats and bad luck walk down the street together like young lovers. Is it not the case when you are on a bad run bad beats hit you in the face more and more. But when the goings are good bad beats are a thing you dish out like a Bruce Lee flying kick wabaammm.

Anyway I digress. One more buy in was my limit and I was quickly spending my allowance for the week. So I buy in Again………

After keeping it tight for the next five hands the BB lands to me. The blinds are now 600 and with 3000 starting chips after the buy in it is quite a hefty BB. I receive JJ. It goes round where the player to my right raises it to 2000. ( Standard raise). Looking down I felt that this would have to be the best time to push once again ( Well to be honest do I have a choice??? Would you push????) There are 5 players who called the 6 and I decide to push all in. Which is a raise of 400 on top of the Raise. The rest of the table folds. The raiser calls. Cards on their backs. JJ plays 1010 (currently leading) Now….. This would be around about the time where the first card on the flop would be a ten and this would end my tournament in a blaze of glory. However the flop lands K 4 J. And I take down the Pot Woo hoo. I now have 9000 chips. I am still 60,00 behind the leader but at least I do have a bit to play with and I am now not on the short stack.

So Normal service is resumed with 5 hands and 5 hands of 7 2 off suit and the like. The next hand falls and I receive A 10 offsuit. Question to all of you reading this. Would you call this???? Well I thought about it. The Blind was raised to 1200. I still have 9000 chips and the BB is on me next. I decide to put it down. My reason for this. Is it really that strong a hand?? I do not think it is although what happened to me next is typical. Flop – A 10 5 – A on turn. K o River. I have just put down a monster. And to make it worse the next three players are all betting massively. Why I do not know. Turns out none of them have an ace and pocket QQ wins the hand. To have one this hand would have made me chip leader easily and unfortunately I decided to put it down. What makes it worse…… Sammy Fara is my hero. And that is the exact same hand he busted on the first hand of the WSOP 2years earlier. So I wait. And Wait. The BB passes me again and BTW for your knowledge we are now down to 6 players with 3 getting paid.
So I get frustrated and more frustrated and the BB IS about to come back with it being 1,000 chips. I have 6 and look down at my cards. I have A 5 Suited. It is raised to 2,000 And so I push all in. Hopefully trying to get scare the raiser off and if he does call hopefully fishing for an ace card. He calls. And then to make matters worse flips over the Kings. Nothing arrives and I exit the game feeling like I have egg on my face. In my Situation would you have done the same?? Considering I was again on the short stack and was soon to be hit by another BB.

Back home to go online and lose a SNG when my KK gets beat by an ace on the turn. Ironic???? Or just the poker gods telling me something????..................................... Bed.

In conclusion from what I can gather the cards are looking up. With another game on tonight and then a Casino tournament on Saturday I do feel I will be peaking for Saturday and could definately do with winning the £1,000 top prize.

Guys thanks for reading and please all comments are appreciated. Even if it is to say I am an idito.

Cheers

Capy
